Q: What is the Heroic Innovators Challenge?
A: The Heroic Innovators Challenge is a team challenge developed by Destination Imagination to inspire and empower the next generation of young Storytellers and Innovators in Asia Pacific. By co-creating the curriculum and providing speakers to advise students on careers in the creative industry, Disney will support this Challenge in Asia.

Q: Why is Disney supporting the Heroic Future Storytellers Challenge in Asia Pacific?
A: Disney’s support for “The Heroic Innovators” Challenge is supported by Disney Future Storytellers which aims to inspire the next generation of Storytellers and Innovators to dream about their future, build their talents and skills, and become who they imagine they can be. Through support for this program, Disney reasserts its commitment to accelerating innovation and driving inclusive storytelling in the Asia Pacific region.

Q: Who can take part?
A: High-school, college and university students in Asia Pacific aged 16 to 24.

Q: How does the Challenge work?
A: To aid participants in developing solutions to unique challenges within their communities, a series of online training sessions will be provided through Destination Imagination’s STEM Learning Academy. Following which, all teams must prepare a video submission of their solution. Submissions must be 4 minutes, or under.

Q: What is the evaluation process like?
A: Destination Imagination’s judging panel will evaluate all video and text submissions from across Asia Pacific to identify the top 10 teams. Disney will review the top 10 submissions to help Destination Imagination select the winning team in the Heroic Innovators Challenge, as well as select Asia’s Best Young Storyteller.

Online training provided by Destination Imagination’s STEM Learning Academy
October 2022 – February 2023
Participants will hone science, technology and storytelling skills through an online enrichment program offered by Destination Imagination’s STEM Learning Academy. All lessons in the online program will be available in English. In addition, participants will be invited to special pre-recorded sessions with Disney guest speakers, who will introduce students to the breadth of careers open to them in Asia’s creative industry.

Deadline for submissions
February 18, 2023
All teams must provide their video submissions for the Heroic Innovators Challenge by February 18, 2023. Submissions can be made in native languages, accompanied by an English translation of the script.
